Scottish Rural Action are pleased to welcome a new Director to the board; Rebecca Dawes who is the Communications & Rural Affairs Manager for the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC).
Rebecca works to engage with stakeholder groups so young farmers have the opportunity to have their voice heard. This is through a range of streams such as committees, media/publicity coverage (on and offline) and knowledge transfer events.
On being appointed onto the board Rebecca said “I have been involved in the Rural Parliament since this initial consultation stage and am delighted to now join Scottish Rural Action as a Director. The Rural Parliament is an excellent opportunity to bring together stakeholders from throughout Scotland to share ideas and experiences with the view of making a change. It is important that we not only consider those working in rural Scotland but also the individuals that will impact its future. By inviting the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs to be involved it shows that this is also something that the Rural Parliament values and I look forward to working with the board to bring our members views to the table”
Scottish Rural Action is the body responsible for the Scottish Rural Parliament, which is due to congregate for the second time in 2016. John Hutchison Chair of Scottish Rural Action said “We are very pleased to have co-opted Rebecca onto the board to help to increase the organisations diversity and age representation as well as ensuring we are meeting the needs of young people in rural Scotland.”
