Would you like to host the next Scottish Rural Parliament?
The next Scottish Rural Parliament is due to be held in October 2016 and we are seeking Expressions of Interest in holding the event in your area.
“If only every rural person could attend!”
The Scottish Rural Parliament brings together over 400 people from across rural Scotland to discuss and debate the issues of greatest importance to rural communities. The event takes place over three days and includes an exhibition, programme of fringe workshops, debates, visits to local projects, entertainment, locally-sourced food and drink, plenaries and speakers. Most people will attend the full programme of activities.
The event is an opportunity to showcase the best of an area and the inaugural 2014 event in Oban attracted coverage from media organisations including Radio Scotland, BBC Alba, The Herald, The Scotsman, Press & Journal and others.
“Great in identifying common problems and developing solutions”
To host the event we have a list of requirements which an area needs to be able to fulfil for practical reasons which are enclosed. Included within this is the need for us to access support locally. Whilst we can seek to find creative solutions to meeting the location requirements, people who are willing to work with us, provide local context and contacts and support us in organising the event are an essential requirement. If you have any questions please contact us so we can put you in touch with the Chair of the Oban Liaison Group who assisted Scottish Rural Action in hosting the 2014 Scottish Rural Parliament.
“I was proud to be associated with it; more of same please!”
We hope that you find this offer of interest. The deadline for submitting an Expression of Interest form is 8th May and we will be in touch shortly afterwards to discuss it in more detail. The decision will be made by the directors of Scottish Rural Action and will reflect a number of considerations including the practicalities of holding the event in your area, local support and providing a contrast and balance to the event held in Oban in 2014.
