This #ruralhour is a lunchtime discussion on community empowerment and democracy in rural Scotland.

12noon: Q1. Afternoon! Let us know you are there by telling us where you are- remember to use #ruralhour
12.06: Q2. In what ways can you influence decisions that affect you? Do you think these ways are effective?
12.12: Q3. Do you want more ways to influence decisions that affect you? What would these be?
12.18: Q4. Do you want to directly influence decisions, or are you happy with someone else representing your views e.g. MP, community councillor?
12.24: Q5 – TBC
12.30: Q6. If you believe more decisions should be taken locally, who do you think should make those decisions and why?
12.36: Q7. What difference would it make to you if we were all involved in making the decisions we want to be involved in?
12.42: Q8. Have you heard of your local authorities ‘participatory budgeting’ i.e. helped them decide what they should spend their funding on? Did you take part and why?
12.48: Q9. The Community Empowerment Act gives community organisations the opportunity to have their say on improving local services; what needs to happen to make sure communities can use this power?
